Third Coast Surf Shop Plans Grand-Opening Events at New St. Joseph Location
ST. JOSEPH, MICH.—Grand-opening events are scheduled for Saturday, April 30, at Third Coast Surf Shop’s new headquarters, at 212 State St., St. Joseph.
Beginning Saturday morning, the shop’s surf art gallery space will feature an exhibition by Jack Flynn, a Chicago-based artist, musician, and surfer. On display in Michigan for the first time, Flynn’s works are inspired by his experiences surfing the Great Lakes.
Making his first Midwest appearance for the grand opening will be renowned surfboard shaper Matt Calvani of Bing Surfboards, who will discuss the art of building surfboards. Based in San Diego, Bing Surfboards has been a fixture on the worldwide surfing scene for more than 50 years.
Festivities will help raise funds for the Lake Michigan Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the world’s beaches. Third Coast Surf Shop is selling raffle tickets to win a 6’0 Bing Q4 Model surfboard and a 9'0 3rd Coast surfboard, with all proceeds benefiting the Surfrider Foundation’s initiatives in the Great Lakes.
Beginning Saturday, April 30, Third Coast Surf Shop will be open daily at its new St. Joseph location. The shop will also maintain a presence in the summer months at 22 S. Smith St., New Buffalo, where it originally opened six years ago.
Third Coast Surf Shop’s products include surfboards and accessories, stand-up paddleboards, wetsuits, swimwear, beach gear, clothing, sandals, and sunglasses.
