Event
Concours d'Elegance of Southwest Michigan
What: Concours d'Elegance of Southwest Michigan is a vintage automobile exhibition that is held annually on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan in St. Joseph. Dozens of classic vehicles dating from the dawn of the automotive era up to 1977 will be on display. All are beautifully restored and several are extremely rare and unusual. The display of vehicles, including motorcycles and bicycles, is complemented by three afternoon "pass in review" events narrated by automotive authority F. Edward Lucas II, "The Voice of Amelia Island." Indiana-built vehicles are the Concours' special class in 2012. Auburns, Cords, Studebakers, Haynes and other Hoosier State vehicles will be on display. Two special featured classed are streamlined cars and 'family cars' - those vehicles in a family since new. Another highlight of the 2012 St. Joseph car show will be the General Motors Futurliner Parade of Progress vehicle. Only 12 of the streamlined Futurliners were built and the Concours d'Elegance of Southwest Michigan will featured bus no. 10. Also on hand for the day will be guests Dennis and Terri Horvath, authors of the book Indiana Cars: A History of the Automobile in Indiana. The Horvath's will be available for a book-signing event the day of the car show.
